Upland is delighted to be working with the Wigtown Book Festival to present Confluence, a collaborative project between photographers and storytellers based in Scotland and Morocco. The project looks to bridge cultures and highlight common links within the Arabian and Celtic storytelling traditions.

The Confluence artists are: Upland Member and Professional Photographic Artist, Laura Hudson Mackay, and Celtic Storyteller, Anne Errington, both based in Dumfries and Galloway, along with Professional Moroccan photographer, El Houssain Belabbes, and Moroccan Storyteller,Mehdi El Ghaly, both based in Marrakech, Morocco.

For this years Wigtown Book Festival, taking place from 22 September - 1 Oct,  Houssain Belabbes, Laura Hudson Mackay and Anne Errington will  be the Upland / Wigtown Artists in Residence exploring storytelling traditions from the two countries. Drop in to the PHC Room behind ReadingLasses Bookshop and Café for some mint tea and hear – and maybe share – some yarns.

The artists will be hosting a Moroccan Cafe on Saturday 23 September 2pm and Saturday 30 September at 11.30am.
