Emerge is a 9 month programme of mentoring, networking and training for emerging artists who have a connection to Dumfries and Galloway.

We are delighted to announce that we have awarded two Emerge Young Artist Bursaries for 2019. This year's recipients are Jordan Chisholm and Sarah Rogers.

Sarah Rogers graduated from Duncan of Jordastone College of Art, Dundee in 2017 after completing her BA (Hons) in Jewellery and metal design.  Her work focuses on structural organic forms created predominantly in gold and silver wires. By playing with the fragility of the wires and how they can be layered and connected, her work explores our dependence on nature and the constraints we are creating through damaging and destroying our natural environment.

Jordan Chisholm graduated from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2018 achieving a BA Honours (First Class) Contemporary Performance Practice. Jordan also has an HNC in Social Care and feels her arts practice blurs the lines between these two worlds and offers a common ground, accessible to all. She says, "Art has helped me help myself, it has helped me understand better the world in which we live. Creating is my own form of therapy and in doing so, I hope that I can help you too. I aspire that my practice can assist in redefining perceptions of art and performance; for it is caring, and there is nothing more innately human than that."

Sarah will be mentored by both Alison Macleod and Lisa Rothwell-Young and Jordan will be mentored by Jo Hodges.

Emerge 2019 is funded by The Holywood Trust and Creative Scotland.
