Become an Uplander
Cost:
Upland Membership is on a sliding scale from £0 - £30, depending on what stage you are at in your creative development. When filling out the membership application form you can choose from one of the following:
- I am an established artist or maker and regularly sell work, take part in exhibitions or undertake paid commissions £30
- I am in the early stages of my creative career* and may struggle to pay the full membership cost £15
- I am currently a student in full time education FREE
To become an Uplander you need to demonstrate that you are:
- A practising visual artist or maker with a strong connection to Dumfries & Galloway
Benefits of being an Uplander:
- Be eligible to apply for and take part in projects and opportunities only open to Upland members, including paid opportunities such as leading workshops and mentoring
- Have access to the members’ area on the Upland website (which has a growing bank of professional development resources)
- Have a your name and link to your website included in the members directory on the website
- Have access to professional development events which will be free or reduced cost for Upland members
- Be eligible to apply for national and local professional and creative development opportunities
- Have the opportunity to feed your ideas into the Upland programme
- Have your news shared in the members newsletter
- Be able to vote at general meetings and stand for election as a Board Director
Upland Membership is renewable annually from the date you sign up.
*There is space on the application form for you to tell us where you are at in your creative career. As a general guide ‘early career’ or ‘emerging’ is usually defined as having less than 5 years’ experience practising as an artist or maker. We know everyone’s situation is different so please use this question to let us know your circumstance.
