Amanda J Simmons
Amanda Simmons originally trained as a telecommunications engineer and then as
a clinical perfusionist. She trained at Westminster College and Central St Martins in London before re-locating to Dumfries and
Galloway in 2005.
Her main technique is working with glass powders and sheet glass, creating 3D vessel forms using gravity but currently studying for a masters in fine art. Her work is found internationally, alongside her teaching and mentoring projects.
Recent exhibitions include the British Glass Biennale, Pattern at Pittsburgh Glass Center, USA, We are Crow, solo show at The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh and Planet Earth at London Glassblowing. Her work is held in public collections at the National
Museum of Scotland, The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, Perth Museum and Art
Gallery, Perth and Ernsting-Stiftung Glass Museum, Germany.
Recently she has taught at The Corning Museum of Glass, NY, Pittsburgh Glass Center and online with
Bullseye Glass and Glass School.
