Gail Kelly

I print my linocuts and woodcuts on vintage Irish linen which has been passed down to me by the women in my family. I arrange the individual pieces of linen to create my collages which I sew by hand.
My inspiration comes from the countryside where I live in County Down and from landscapes and gardens I see on my travels in Britain and Ireland. I am particularly interested in old traditional farm buildings, farmland, trees. flowers and folklore. I like to focus on the patterns and colours of the changing seasons.
I have enjoyed printmaking for many years and have been making linocuts since I was in primary school!
My mum taught me how to sew when I was a child and I still use these skills today.
I also make linen prints and greetings cards of wildlife, trees and gardens.
