Keep up with all the news from Upland and our Artists

Spring Fling Open Studios has now been rescheduled for the 5-12 October 2020.

The decision to postpone the original event, due to take place on 23-25 May, was a disappointing one but absolutely necessary given the situation. The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, artists, partners, audience and everyone who contributes to make Spring Fling being our priority.

The rescheduled event is being planned with constant and careful monitoring of Government Guidance and we are pleased to announce the new dates.

At the beginning of lockdown, the decision was made to suspend all of Upland’s current projects for the foreseeable future. This included Upland's community and youth-based projects, Modern Makers, Emerge and Making Connections. We are monitoring and reviewing the situation with regards to each individual project and will update as the situation progresses.

Whilst planned projects have been paused, Upland has focused on how best to support members and respond to COVID-19. This has resulted in new professional development opportunities and advice sessions for members to help them adapt and grow their practice during this unprecedented time, new online Spring Fling related activity at the end of May to keep the event’s audience’s’ engaged and an online commercial exhibition for Upland members.

We were also pleased to reshape our Artful Migration Residency programme (created in partnership with Moving Souls Dance), adapting it to the restrictions enabling filmmaker John Wallace to tentatively begin his exploration of the Ospreys which nest at NTS Threave Garden and Estate.

As we continue to navigate through this period, we will keep the lines of communication open to all our participants, artists and freelance staff, aiming to support all as best we can through this difficult time.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and wish you all the best of health at this time.

Please do not hesitate to contact Upland staff with any questions. The Upland office remains closed but staff are contactable through email/telephone remotely.
