We are looking for a small group of young people, age 16-25 years, from Dumfries & Galloway to take part in Modern Makers 2017.

The project is a chance for up to four young people to be tutored intensively for 30-35 days by a professional craft maker to learn craft skills.  This year you will  be able to experience hands-on learning with a skilled ceramicist, gain insight not only into the process itself, but also into how an artist / maker functions in today’s social and economic environment. You will also visit other artist studios and exhibitions relevant to the project.  We hope that by working in a group participants will gain new skills and confidence while at the same time being able to share ideas and build relationships through shared experience.

The professional makers for the 2017 programme will be Douglas Fitch and Hannah McAndrew  - http://www.fitchandmcandrew.co.uk/

Doug Fitch and Hannah McAndrew are partners in life and business. They are slipware potters in Galloway and are both long established in their field.
