Upland Member Bea Last shortlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize

We're excited to share the news that Upland member Bea Last has been shortlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize and will be exhibiting her installation, 'The Red Bags' at York Gallery in March.
The winner will be announced on the 23rd March.
'The Red Bags' were first shown at Gracefield Art Centre as part of our Spring Fling 20th year exhibition last Spring/Summer. Bea says "The Red Bags may well have remained just an idea if it wasn't for showing at Gracefield." We're delighted for Bea and the journey 'The Red Bags' have been on since featuring in the exhibition in Dumfries.
'The Red Bags' also featured in our Jump Cut project - which enabled young people (30 years and under) to learn filmmaking skills. Last year the group created a short documentary film about Bea's installtion and the inspiration behind it. You can watch the film here.
