We are looking for an established contemporary visual artist based in Dumfries & Galloway to take artistic lead on ROAM (Space) - a new collaborative project which will explore the idea of establishing an artist run project space in the region, run by and for emerging artists.

The lead artist will work collectively with a small group of emerging artists, supporting them through a process of research, development, and exhibition. This process will include facilitating regular meetings with the group and implementing novel creative methods to capture emergent themes and document the development process. They will also work closely with Upland to develop a programme of informative events, including talks by visiting artists or curators and excursions to existing spaces.

We are looking for an experienced artist working in contemporary visual art based in D&G. We are open to artists working in any medium or with multi-disciplinary practice. The succesful candidate should have knowledge of the contemporary visual art scene in Scotland, as well as artist-run project spaces. Ideally, they will have experience of working collaboratively and democratically in a group setting, particularly in the context of working with young and/or emerging creative practitioners.

The project will take place from January - August 2023. The fee for the lead artist is £6,600.
