A special Open Call for Upland members

In 2027 Spring Fling celebrates its 25th anniversary and we’re doing something a little different with our annual illustration commission. Usually we approach an artist directly, but this year we’re opening the opportunity to Upland members. 2027 marks 25 years of Spring Fling – celebrating the artists, makers, studios, places and encounters that have shaped the event over the last quarter century. Alongside a new Spring Fling website for 2027, the 25th anniversary gives us an opportunity to refresh how we present Spring Fling and make its connection with Upland clearer, while celebrating the creativity, people and places at the heart of the event.

We’re looking for an Upland member to create the Spring Fling 2027 artwork, commissioned by Upland for the 25th anniversary. The artwork will feature on the brochure cover and be used by Upland across the wider campaign, including print, promotional materials and digital.

We’re interested in the experience of Spring Fling – artists and making, journeys between studios, the landscape and places discovered along the way, and the connections made between artists and visitors. For our 25th anniversary, we also want to celebrate the many people and places that have shaped Spring Fling over the years. We don’t want to be too prescriptive – we want you to respond in your own way and bring your own practice, style and ideas to the commission.
