Patchworking Continues!
Prior to lockdown textile artist Morag Macpherson had been undertaking a project with both the secondary and primary school in Langholm. As part of our Making Connections project, which seeks to creatively explore the textile heritage of Langholm, Morag was working with pupils to create pattern designs. These designs have since been printed onto fabric and will be used to create patch worked garments inspired by work wear, referencing the textile mill workers of the past and the vital role they played in the community.
The project had to be postponed due to Covid-19 but we have worked with the teachers at both schools to try and find creative solutions to get the project completed. The pupils at Langholm Academy have been continuing the design process with their art teacher and we are very pleased to share some of the results.
We are hoping to exhibit the final garments locally in a non contact exhibition - tbc - so watch this space!
