We were delighted to showcase a selection of new and recent work from Upland members at Patriothall Gallery in Edinburgh from 2-10 September 2017.

Curated from an open call to the Upland membership, Surge was Upland’s first exhibition aiming to highlight the breadth and depth of its artistic community, presenting work from artists at different stages of their careers. With a focus on new or recent work, the exhibition featured a varied range of practice including painting, printmaking, ceramics, mixed media, photography and video.

The twelve artists selected artists were: Bea Last, Patricia Cain, Amy Winstanley, Andrew Adair, Colin Tennant, Denise Zygadlo, Maggie Ayres, Silvana McLean, Sarah Stewart, Katie Anderson, Morag Paterson and Rory Laycock.

The exhibition was accompanied by a booklet with a foreword by Tina Fiske, who has initiated CAMPLE LINE, a new arts organisation based at Cample Mill near Thornhill. You can download and read the exhibition booklet here.
