A public art commission for Spring Fling 2021
The Call was a public art project by Katie Anderson commissioned by Upland for Spring Fling 2021.
The Call was a sound and sculptural performance, an investigation of space through our audible landscapes. Comprising of two speakers and listeners, the work was mobile, emitting a call and response between the two listeners.
The work explored ideas of seeking and listening, exploring site by means of a repeating call or song, created from digitally manipulated demos of vocalists from Dumfries and Galloway. Audiences are invited to explore the site and interact with the work, investigating the audible sound-scape.
The Call sculptural installation was located at Mill on the Fleet, Gatehouse of Fleet and featured three live performances throughout the Spring Fling event at Mill on the Fleet and Ottersburn Gallery, Dumfries.
