We are very pleased to announce our Emerge recipients for 2024 - Lorna Phillips and Sarah McCusker!

This year we were fortunate enough to offer two bursaries - one for an emerging artist or maker under the age of 30 (supported by The Holywood Trust and The Archer Sutter Watt Trust), and another for an emerging artist or maker of any age (supported by Creative Scotland ).

We asked Lorna and Sarah to share how they feel about being awarded the bursary.

Lorna said, "Receiving Emerge has come at a key point in my creative development and I am really excited to learn from some exceptional makers and take this opportunity to establish the key foundations for myself as an emerging artist. I am looking forward to building my technical understanding of clay and gaining an insight into how I can create a sustainable practice that is true to myself."

Sarah said, "Emerge is an exciting opportunity for me to further develop my artistic practice under the guidance of two fantastic, creative and experienced mentors. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating new work ahead of Spring Fling and using this as a launch pad for my artistic career."

We can't wait to see how both their creative practices develop over the coming months, under the guidance of their mentors (to be announced soon)! Well done to Sarah and Lorna, and thank you to everyone who applied. More info on Lorna and Sarah's work coming soon!
